It was taken over by the Govt. of J&K on 25th November,1953.It continued to be the only women college of Jammu province up to 1971.Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, was established in 1944 and got recognition from the UGC under 2 (f) and 12 (b) in 1988. It is affiliated to Jammu University.
